Special letters bug
Tomy44:
Hello !
The special letters (à, ô, ù) are remplaced by codes on the posted messages, you have an idea where it comes from?
For example:
MrPhil:
Your text source (coming from the database) is in UTF-8 while your page is being displayed in a single byte encoding, probably Latin-1 (ISO-8859-1). Did you move servers or databases lately? Did you convert to UTF-8 at some point?
Tomy44:
No, I didn't. I didn't convert of change anything since I installed SMF on my domain. About the languages, English is in ISO-8859-1 and French is in UTF-8.
MrPhil:
So, is the database Latin-1 or UTF-8? Was the example you gave (French post) in English mode (language)? That would explain the UTF-8 post text being presented in Latin-1. You need to change the English to UTF-8 (have everything in the forum done as UTF-8), if you're going to have one or more languages in UTF-8.
Tomy44:
Ok, I installed English in UTF-8, it seems to work.
Can I delete the ISO-8859-1 version of English?
