YSE1.5 to SMF... the next step!?

(1/3) > >>

Cypher7:
hey, Im currently using YG1 as my live forum... I want to move to SMF...

here is what Ive done so far...

Firstly, I installed a fresh copy of SMF on my server, mainly to see what I can do with it and its features etc etc....

Happy with the findings! I decide to move... so the best way I could find to get the data across from YG1 to SMF was to install Yabb SE and convert all data to that... that worked fine.. no probs.

Now, I know the next step is to convert data to SMF...... But Im wondering what I should do with my current SMF package? Do I have to remove everything SMF and then set up the upgrade package? Or can I run the upgrade over the current SMF setup? Can I leave the folders there (Sources and Packages etc) and just upload the basic files in the setup dir like upgrade.php?  I made a couple of themes and changed a lot of settings in my current SMF and dont want to loose them...  can anyone advise on the best way to go!?!?  :-\

cheeeeers!

Peter Duggan:
Bring your YSE Settings.php and DB into the SMF install, then simply run the SMF upgrade.php. But please backup everything first!

Cypher7:
thats what I wanted to hear!  ;)

cheers!

I'll go for that! wich me luck!

Peter Duggan:
PS Make sure your YSE has been upgraded to at least 1.5.x first (not sure what you'll have had to use for the YG1 conversion) because SMF only upgrades from 1.5.x.

Cypher7:
Yea I installed YSE 1.5.x, thats what I upgraded from YG1 to... the transfer there went fine...

just about to hit the magic button...!
