Question about "Unread posts"

(1/3) > >>

ChalkCat:
Sorry if the answer is already here somewhere, I've looked but I can't find it.

With the "show unread posts since last visit", if a member only has time to view one or two of the unread topics in the list, then comes back later and clicks unread posts again, sometimes the same topics are still there and sometimes not.  What is the rule on this?  Is it strictly only the posts since last visit, in which case topics will only still show if they have been updated again between visits?  Or is there a time on it, so the same unread posts might keep showing for visits within 24 hours or something if they remain unread?

One of my members has asked me and I realised I don't know how to answer!  Thanks  :)

Ricky.:
Since your last visit, if there is new post in a topic, it will show up again else won't.

ChalkCat:
That simple, huh? Thanks  ;)

Arantor:
Yup, it really is 'since last visit', although the technical definition of 'since last visit' is a little vague at times.

Personally, I just removed it and went with 'all unread' because while there is an overhead attached, it tends to make people 'mark all read' and presents a more sane experience to them.

ChalkCat:
Thanks A, now that is an idea worth looking into.  As you say, more people would know where they are with it  :)
