The old YaBB/YaBBSE template system was great imo, I'm just wondering if the template system will be the same in SMF :) Or will it be like phpBB or vB?

It's kinda like the old system, but MUCH faster and much better.  Don't know if the code is the same, but the concept seems similar (but with far more options).

Actually from what I gather its nothing like the old system, you can skin just about every aspect of the board, though there is still an easy way to make changes like there was before.

I htink thats how it is, no doubt if I am wrong one of the <douglas mode> big guns </douglas mode> will correct me :)

THere are a couple things to note in the system.  First of all EVERYTHING is skinnable.  It's terrifying.  I was very intimidated by editing this skin for simplemachines.org - but it wasn't too bad...

but what we're going to include is the ability to control the over all template like you could in yabbse.  so you'll have the best of both worlds.
