New install fails to load in IE8 and FF12 - Loads normal in Chrome
(1/1)
texaswc:
Clean install, version 2.0.2.
IE8 simply continuously tries to load (stuck in a loop?), FF12 gives the following error.
--- Quote ---The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
--- End quote ---
Google Chrome loads the forum normally. This issue first came to light when testing installation with some minor edits adding a custom background, header and menu, and custom footer, all html edits within the index.template.php file and index.css file and no edits to any code or any other file, within IE and FF.
Latest test install is in a folder in the root of my website (previous install on a subdomain). Installed clean, no settings changed, no add-ons, just installed and then loaded into the browser, all default settings and templates. Normal operation in Chrome, failed in IE and FF, same as previous installation and with the same errors/problems.
Server error logs show zero PHP errors within my domain/hosting account.

In retyping the URL into the FF address bar, I get this, currently, showing in the url drop down history:
" http://www.texaswildcat.us/smf202/index.php?PHPSESSID=ve3e25mivhn1hl1l1smufep487; [nofollow] "
W3C Markup Validation shows no problems:

Again, IE8, FF12 both have this problem, Chrome works fine...
Any information, fixes, etc. as quickly as possible would be very greatly appreciated.

Same here, including IE9 and Chrome. All worked quickly and cleanly.
Bet you feel so much better now, don't you Tex :-X
Dunno what your issue is - maybe try a different compooter or clear out your cache files...?

I went back to my original installation after finding a solution to why that install wasn't letting me log out, per this article:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=483774.msg3388161#msg3388161
For some reason, something I have never seen before in 20 years online, it fixed it so I could log in to ALL my test installations .. 2 on different subdomains and one on my root domain...everything loaded as it was supposed to after the fix...
A simple setting change in the admin, checked "Use subdomain independent cookies" ..
Never had a setting on one totally affect any other, but I would figure it to be regarding the cookies and domain .. crazy....
I have used the software previously on the same server multiple times as with this occasion without issue which is why this one puzzled me, though the last version I used 1.1.13, removed all but one of the older versions and am using just a single install for this one as of right now .. Now, if they could just get the Ajax chat, latest version, to install easily with SMF2.0.2 .. as it stands, I can't emulate and use the slightly older package that's available, I still get the test failures...
Oh well, such is the net ... thanks for the assist guys...
