I looked at the mysql db table and there is a 0 in the primary column of a new member(and a test) and nothing in the additional groups columns

I have the standard in the groups table admin 1 to member 4  then the groups I added

On my member profile page I have

Administrator
 Global Moderator
 Base Group
 Fishing Guide
 Hunting Guides
 Outdoor Service Provider

Moderator, Member and  another group(I entered) are not listed

Today a member registered and he wasn't assigned a group and I did a test and the test wasn't assigned a group. I thought that they automatically were assign to reg member #4.

Arantor:
Yes and no. They're in the Regular Member group (which is what the 0 means) AND they're in a post count group (which is group 4 normally, starts out as Newbie by default)

So if you want to give them permissions for things, assign it to Regular Member - it won't show up next to their username on the posting area, but trust me, they're in that group.

Duh, ... what got me started on this was that a guy joined, couldn't post a reply, I joined couldn't post but ..... I looked just a while ago and in my permissions for reg members I had unchecked replies at sometime. Every thing seems to work now.

Sorry for the hassle.
