Images and Holidays

Hi,

I am building a multiple (3) language forum and was wondering if it is possible to attach an image (country flag) to holidays displayed in the calender.
Since holidays are not the same in every country i am looking for a way to distinguish one from another.
I tried with the BBC code for image and with plain HTML in the subject but that doesn't work.

I know it would be possible to give them all a name explaining where the holiday comes from but then i would have to give all holidays an explanation in 3 languages.

Besides, using a flag looks a bit better ;)

Thought maybe it's possible to do something with message icons, using them the same way as in normal topics but i have no idea what calender code i need to change to create the pull down menu used by messages.

That way i could add the 3 flags using "Enable customized message icons"

Anyone an idea?

Yeah you used to be able to include images in the subject, but it was deemed a bug and 'fixed' in 2.x (there is a post I made to change this back, if you want to search for it).  So you want it to only display as a message icon in the applicable event topic?

I'm sure you can add the icons via the normal method of adding message icons, then once the event threads has been created adjust the icon to match the require flag icon.  But with the icon in the normal pool of icons, will mean anyone can use them for their posts.

I had the idea of using a customized message icon because i couldn't find any other solution going through the forums. The easiest way would be to be able to use an image in the subject right away.

For events themselves your solution might be an option although i don't see the message icons from events in the calendar itself and i have no idea how to get them to show. Holidays however, are being put in the calendar right away so they do not have a message icon to begin with.

Didn't know it was possible before and it was fixed being considered a bug btw. :)

I searched through the forums to find your post about reverting the "bugfix" but haven't been able to find it.

Any change you still know where the changes need to be made?

Ah, I was thinking of the wrong thing.  I was thinking of the ability to use images in bbcode and 'author' line of quote, etc.  Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase.

Yes the solution I mention will only be for the event post icon if posted as a linked event to the forum.  Not sure how to get it for the Calendar display.

I think it's a Mod Request at the least.  As any mods I would direct you too would not work on SMF 2.x anyways.
