Sick of spam!!!

I am really struggling to get to grips with this smf I am a bit of an idoit and just can not seem to get me head round what I am suppose to be installing! I have finaly managed to upgrade the forum to 1.1.16 and Every day I am getting over 200 people joining waiting to spam my site.

Is there some simple way of stoping this? I have the settings on high for verification and it does nothing making the whole forum unuseable as I just spend all day deleting stuipid spammers.

I have had a look at the manuals and instructions and just thought I would see If you guys could just give me a simple solution before I give up and use a more idoit proof forum?

Two options, as I see it, Danny.

1) Search the forum and look at the billions of other topics on the site, about this. See what worked for others.

2) Search the mod-site. http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;basic_search=spam Look at the mod's support topics, to see what issues they might've had and all that stuff. You can make in informed decision, then. :)

They're a pain in the bum, sadly. :(

    Admin -> Safety and Moderation -> Verification

You'll find it at the bottom end of this page.
