come to think of it ever since I was a little kid and a saw the movie about the donkey engine they thought was a monster that had the kid from ET in it I've wanted to live in Australia she would be a good reason! ;D :-X

actually, the internet was born in an earlier and was created by the US military to send information ;) there were only enough IPs for 256 computers :) (I can't remember what it was called back then, if I ever see that article again, I'll post it)

wasn't it developed at the end of the second world war?

more of the cold war really.  The first real network though was born in the early 60s I believe, when computers started getting smaller due to the birth of the transistor.

[vacuum tubes use lots of power, break easily, and are BIG; transistors were a huge step]
