Showing modified posts

Abbess:
Quite often our forum has a post which can be updated / modified. eg times and places of an event being shown on tv's in local bars.   However, when it is modified, it does not show up as a new post, so is missed unless you keep making a new post!   Any ideas?

Arantor:
Why not make a new post instead?

MrPhil:
Modifying a post will not change its date/time posted. If you want to have it visible at the top, make a new post and arrange the display order to "newest at top". An alternative might be to "pin" ("sticky") the post so it's always somewhere near the top.

phantomm:
When you modify post it does not bump topic to top, but if you visit ?action=unread or ?action=unreadreplies you will see this post as 'new'.

At least this is how it works for me..

Abbess:
It would be better - although I know its not possible - if it was shown in the Recent Posts, which show the last 3 posts, that way, everyone would see that something has been updated. Even if it is posted as a Sticky, these are not checked every day as a matter of course.  There are times when it is just messy to keep doing new posts on the same topic, which may have had other replies or questions inbetween.  I know its only the original poster or admin who can modify the post, and I have done it before but need to keep putting a new post reading "Main list modified" or similar!! ::)
