You can also try MATE, which has packages for many distributions and has focused on removing any potential GNOME conflicts so you can use it side-by-side.

AFAIK MATE didn't correctly install here...or else it's interface is old.
Cinnamon crapped up Ubuntu.

Guess I'll stick with Unity, if nothing pleases me so far (yeah c'mon with the picky guy comments).

Interesting. They have packages for the two most recent editions of Ubuntu, and they've been updated within the last 15 days, so it should work if you follow their instructions. Well, as far as Ubuntu itself "works".

It works, but it has a Win95-like interface, to me it looks like X's default environment so yeah..

Screenshot of my dual-monitor setup in our garden house...

The top screen is a TV, lower screen is just a standard monitor. Looking up ain't that comfortable, y/k.

Ok I am on one of the computers in the office here, and the desktop is what the usual user has (im not complaining as the girl in green is my girlfriend).
