Stand alone store software for downloads.
ApplianceJunk:
I'm looking into creating a online store for downloadable items.
Would not have a forum, just the store. What are some good options I should check out?

Here's a fairly good model, for ya!

Interesting, so what software are they using?

What's your budget and the type of products? I mainly do ecommerce work and that's the main killer.
People most frequently suggest the below. The description is mine however:
Wordpress with an addon - Bad for almost anything except a membership site where wordpress handles everything else. A mod will not get the same level of support or functionality as a full-on ecommerce platform.
Drupal with an addon - Almost the same as wordpress, but the addons are more mature and thought-out (in my opinion)
Joomla with an addon - Many people suggest one of the addons (I can't remember the name) and I have tried it out myself. It was pretty good but my problem with it is still the lack of support and... its on Joomla. So many security holes with other mods would make me paranoid to use anything besides a vanilla install and the ecommerce addon.
Magento - No. Unless you're willing to drop $20k+ on it, or you're fine with all the features on install and a premade skin, it's a bank breaker. Very heavy resource usage. The companies providing customization/support are around $120/hr. Official support from Magento is $12k/year last I checked, and the community forums are near useless for getting help.
Zencart, OScommerce, Cubecart - I put all three in the same listing because they're all the same: Outdated, bloated, inefficient. I'd never recommend these even if your budget is free.
BigCommerce - Never tried but I hear people like it.
Prestashp - Same thing as BigCommerce.
X-cart - My personal choice. It's not exactly cheap to start with ($70->$200 license, $200 for a "required" mod, $200 for another recommended, specialized/optimized hosting) but its straightforward and has almost everything needed. Great community forums (you can expect help from companies and the creator, along with other users). Mod companies are extremely helpful. Only downside is it's heavily procedural and sort of bloated. Skins/Templates are handled by smarty, no need to mess with PHP. Overall, I would recommend this if you need something cheap but still good.
Pinnacle Cart - Same as X-cart almost, but the major differences is price and mods. To be able to run it on your own server (because their managed hosting is expensive) it costs $800. X-cart is about $600 with all of its mod. The amount of mods for it are limited because its fairly new.

Looking at the source, it's just plain, simple HTML, by the look of it.
