SMF Development > Applied or Declined Requests

SMF will be released Faster or suggestions on how to help dev. team

sensovision:
Hi folks, I've pop-up on this community shortly after it was announced on YaBB SE(or at least I think so). So this board seems to me fastest growing and threads appear here horly and sometimes even with higher frequense...  this board has most threads and only Chit-Chat has more posts count but only because there some games like Word assosiation game is running...
So from this it's look like that most folks just come here to request some features which would be useful to them but not really interesting in contributing their time or skills to community. If you try to click on names of the members who start a thread with new suggestions you'll see that most of them don't have less than 10 posts...
but they are post and using precious time of folks who is working on the coding of this forum, just imagine how much threads they need to view and reply in order to see all suggestions. I'm sure that this don't help them in development process in anyway...
so I would like to suggest few things.
1. Publish compilated list of all features done by Metho, which would be compulsory to check before posting, since there is many questions appear which was already asked previously...

2. If this feature already available: let people post here only when they reac 20-30 posts... this would make sure that here will post people which are only interested in some features for their boards but also those who has will to contribute something to community, I think 30 posts isn't so much...
3. Create several child boards so people could sort their questions by subject and put someone in charge to keep an eye on this all and sort appropriate threads or kill(or maybe merge) duplicate ones, or wait make child borard for duplicate questiosn and move them there... this will show how much time is wasted and could be saved...

I think without tightening a bit rules for this board it would become really spammed in several days with a wishlists and it would be impossible for folks in development team to work effectively.
Hope this would help a bit to solve posting problem here... also I think that tightening rules for this board will force people who really interested in development of this community contribute a bit time to post in other boards and come back later with better understanding how this community work and that people who coding SMF don't have Alladin lamp which make wishes to come thuth but they use their brains and time for this.

PS I also wish to apologize to if I post too much suggestions here.

I think it's a bit unfair, but then... we're getting swamped reading all these.... I don't know, it seems like this will discourage people from contributing.

Then again, a lot of these requests seem like ones for 1.5.x... not for this version.  People need to realize things have changed...

I just do selective reading.  :P

eFishie:
Same with me, I have selective listening, tasting, seeing, hearing, reading, blah, blah, blah, yap, yap, dribble, dribble, dribble, yap!

and another two things I forgot.
I would remove this thread: "Official Feature List " since I think while it's empty it's no use...
this compilated list of suggestions probably should be updated on weekly(daily in dependance how much time person who deal with this would have) basis or something so people would see what is on list or don't.
Also it would be good idea proably to give some info about which features will appear and which is don't but I think it's isn't so important.

I know that it could sounds a bit unfair especially with turning on post restrictions but I think if someone really need some feature why not spend a bit time on other boards? also 20-30 isn't so much posts...
