Help on Install :-/

(1/1)

jaws:
Hello everyone. :)

I have just downloaded smf_1-0-beta4-1_install.zip, and when I go to install it, i notice that there is no install.php, and no install directory. :-/

What do I need to do to install SMF?  I have MySQL, and all that stuff, all I need to do is run the installer.

Index.php does nothing, it just gives me a load of errors.

Am I downloading the wrong package?

Thanks,

Jeff.

Peter Duggan:
No, you've not downloaded the wrong package!

You should find install.php in the root directory of that package, but there's no 'install directory' as such. Assuming everything's in order, you simply upload the unzipped package to your remote forum directory and run install.php from there. So, if your forum is at somesite/forum, you'd run somesite/forum/install.php.

Sorry peter, but I just cannot find an install.php file in this directory. :(

Ive downloaded it three times to make sure, and it isnt there.

Perhaps it wasnt included by mistake?

Peter Duggan:
Well, all I can say is that I've just downloaded and extracted that zip again right now and the install.php is there as shown in the attached screenshots:

jaws:
Thanks for the support.

I found it, turns out it was in "hidden" mode.  I guess it got switched that way by mistake.  Either way, ive got it now, and thanks again.:)

Jeff.
