SQL problem (again)

(1/4) > >>

nosferatu:
Hi all. I don't know if anyone has had this problem but here goes. I dumped my 1.5.4 db and clean installed smf. I went to upload my db but phpmyAdmin states no sql query. The smf board has loaded ok but I can't get my db back up. I've tried to browse to the sql file and tried cutting and pasting the db data from the sql file directly into the phpmyAdmin sql query box but it refuses to move. I can't even cut the code from the txt file. It makes no difference if I choose a small sample and try to cut it or the whole lot but absolutely nothing happens.
Has anybody heard of anything similar. It just seems as if the sql file has completely frozen.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why did you do it that way? It's much easier to use the upgrade package from the download page.
Now, when you dumped your database tables, how did you do it? It sounds like it just dumped the table contents without putting any mySQL queries in there.

nosferatu:
I dumped the db with data and structure and complete inserts. It does seem that the dump doesn't include sql queries. I haven't a clue how that happened but as I can now access my sql file (and all the data appears to be there) is there any way of restoring it. I've tried to cut and paste to the phpmyadmin sql query box but it exceeds the limit set in read_dump.lib.php. I've looked at line 112 in that but it doesn't mention any limit and I don't know how to increase it. In any case when I've cut and pasted a smaller section of the sql file, phpmyadmin states that there is no sql query. When I've tried loading the archive in either zip or rar format from the original dump, phpmyadmin states that it cannot read the file.
I've got all the data but I can't get it up. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Ben_S:
How large is the dump, if its over 2meg then you may be hitting php's default max upload limit as set in php.ini.

If you have ssh access, thats by far the best way to import the dump?

nosferatu:
Sorry to be an imbecile but what's ssh?
Thanks
