Ugh, how sad

Shoeb Omar:
I assume you mean this quote:

--- Quote ---Brianna was among 261 people sued for copying thousands of songs via popular Internet file-sharing software — and thousands more suits could be on the way.
--- End quote ---

Granted I read right over that, but it isn't very specific.  I'd like to see som emore solid info.  I'll do some googling after I get this research essay done

Shadow:
This has to be done. The artists are losing a lot of money (I believe Fox News said 40% of sales at one point, this was on TV so I cannot provide a link at this time). And for the artists I mean everyone that works on the records. It isn't just 5-10 people that are losing money, but thousands. It is sad that a 12-year-old girl was sued, but anyone who downloads music is stealing the music. I'm not saying I haven't done it, everyone has done it, but none the less it is stealing. They have tired targeting the people who allow file sharing, that has failed. If they target the people who are sharing the files then not only will it scare them into not sharing files, but they'll get a lot more money back.

Aquilo: A number of websites do leagally sell single tracks from CDs. They generally run for about $1-$2USD each. Likewise, you cannot rent a CD, CDs are far too easy to copy. Whenever I get a new CD, the firs thing I do is back it up to my computer.

Seph|roth:

--- Quote ---When not at the playground with her friends, "Biggie Brianna" is trading music files from her home in New York. The little girl received one of the 261 lawsuits filed by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) on Monday, according to the New York Post. She may look like a sweet and innocent child, but the RIAA says it's only going after major copyright violators at the moment. So you make the call.
--- End quote ---

Sueing your potential customers is stupid.  The RIAA needs to change something, becuase obviously, their current business model isn't working.

The Artists get practically no mopney compared to what the RIAA gets anyway..

Joshua Dickerson:
