[Rewrite] - When to Moderate
Chas Large:
--- Quote from: Amacythe on September 07, 2005, 02:13:51 PM ---When and how to moderate is a decision each administrator must make. Some forum administrators will not permit swearing and may modify a post or reprimand a member for foul language. Others do not permit verbal attacks on other members and will delete the post or reprimand the member.
Reprimands may be a public post warning the offending member, a personal message, or even a ban from the forums.
To help members and staff be informed administrators can display rules in sticky topics, and their registration agreement. Sticky topics are be effective for rules of certain boards as they stay at the top of the board they are stickied in. The registration agreement will greet new members and force them to agree to abide by its contents before they can join. The registration agreement can be changed through the registration section of the administration center.
In many cases the most difficult part of moderating is attempting to be impartial and consistent.

Just so you know, you don't need to put the original text in your post, unless you want to. Just let us know you want to work on it. :) Also, put the document (original and revisions) in quote tags to separate it from the rest of the post (if there is one). I probably need to add that to the procedure. Sorry about that.
In any case go ahead and work on it. This one probably won't need too much work, so it's a good starter. :)

Sorry but I seem to be a bit confused. In response to the document assignment topic you replied
--- Quote from: B on January 21, 2010, 12:04:25 PM ---Since we are currently using an SMF install for our Online Manual, we need documents to be formatted with BBC. :) So once you have requested a document (by creating a new topic with the appropriate tag and document name), you can just post the new version in that topic.
Make sense?

Yet here you say

So let me get this straight.
1. I post a topic to request that it be assigned.
2. Presumably you reply to agree to that assignment
3. I edit/write the document and post it in that topic in a quote
Is that the correct procedure?
What did you mean by

Thanks

Sorry for the confusion. We're still transitioning the Doc Helpers from the OM to here, and apparently some things still aren't quite clear. :)
Yes, that is the correct procedure. I've edited the information sticky to reflect that and hopefully eliminate confusion in the future.

I just meant that if you write a message in the same post in which you place your document/revision, putting the document/revision in quote tags will separate it from the rest of your post. :)
