Something screwy with logins

I'm getting problems on my test site, which is a fully installed forum. Logins are screwing up.

When members try to reset their passwords, the link sent to their email does not work--says invalid activation code.

They can login using the login link at the top, though.

Help?

Do you have any mods installed? Is this a fresh install?

I do have code work being done or that was done. I am not sure which files were touched. What files being altered would affect logins and specifically the email validations?

Sources/LogInOut.php for one handles the login and -out procedure.

Also, you are talking about being able to log in at the top, does it give any errors while trying to login through the login screen?

Groovystar:
It gives Invalid Activation Code. But apparently the code still works, some of the time at least because the password does get reset and the login up top still does work.

Would those be the only two files involved that could possibly cause this? Because if so I can compare them to unaltered copies and deduce what if any code changes could be causing it.
