Purple 'New Posts' indicators

AARRGHHH .. they are doing my eyes in  :o

They fade too slowly, so that they don't appear to be fading .. I went through three stages :-

[*] That they menat different things
[*] That my eyes were broken
[*] That my monitor was broken

.. before finally realising  :-\

Any chance you can make the fade a little bit faster .. if only to save my sanity next time .. pleeeeese?
