Has anyone had any success using CSS and DIV tags to create a template?  Eventually I'd like to make that happen since my website uses the method for its layout. 

I am sure it can be done but wanted to see if someone has done it already before I dive into it.

Thats how templates are made here, with the use of a CSS file. DIV's are also used in the template.

I think I've read about someone doing it with divs, but even if not, it IS possible to do it and you should tackle it by all means if you want to

I've been seriously thinking about doing this myself... I've just been way too lazy lately lol

You CAN use tables, in fact to display data (like a forum does) you MUST use tables. That's what they were made for!
As long as you don't use 20 nested tables, things should be fine.

Using nothing but div's is very very confusing for accessability browsers when you're displaying a lot of data...
