A note on the "old document" site

Once upon a time, SMF documentation was found at http://docs.simplemachines.org/.

Before the new Online Manual went "gold", an effort was made to copy all the good information from the old docs site to the new Online Manual. For a little while longer, that deprecated site will still be available, mostly because older versions of SMF software actually contain links to information on that site.

For now, you can see the old documents, with a note pointing to the most recent version of that document, on the wiki.
In the next phase of the old doc site's life, users will be automatically redirected to the most recent version of a document, and will be able to view documents on that site directly.

Eventually, when usage figures show that the old documentation site redirects are no longer necessary, even these will be shut off. This will not happen until they seem absolutely unnecessary.
