MissMermaid:
I have no idea if I am getting this right.

So far have downloaded smf

Use Dreamweaver

Copied files into my website in dreamweaver

Created a new file called forum.php

So do I upload all of this? and then work on it online?

I still can not figure out how the admin control panel comes into the picture?

My host directed me to smf so they should be compatable.

Your help is appreciated I am trying sooo hard and its doing my head in. :-[

SleePy:
Wouldn't Recommend using Dreamweaver to upload files myself..

I would use a stand alone FTP client and Upload the files..
Please check out Installing SMF for more information on installing SMF.

MissMermaid:
Sorry I dont understand all the tech terms! in the manual. It dosnt seem to be written for newbies.

I have uploaded through my host (go daddy).

I just need the concept explained to me. In plain english. eg. download smf, yadda yadda, yadda, pick the theme you want, yadda yadda, then yipee it works.

Maybe this is a bit too advanced for me but I have come so far I dont want to give up.

SleePy:
Well you most likely can skip to the install part of the instructions.. Installing SMF - Installing SMF

Hopefully there isn't to technical stuff there. SMF tries its best to make things straight forward for all its users to understand..

Though.
I shoulda said this at the start. If your site runs cPanel and has Fantastico enabled you can use that to install SMF 1.0.8 automatically and easily. Then just use package manger to upgrade to 1.0.9

MissMermaid:
Sleepy thats what Im talking about - instructions that dont look like something out of an ikea flat pack with too many alen keys.  I will give it a go and reply hopefully with good news.
