Avoid sleeping?

Typically, I sleep about 4.5 hours a night too.

If I want to stay awake longer, then my trick is Pepsi Max - it helps keep you awake a lot longer than plain old coca cola :)

4Ltrs over a couple of hours, could easily get you through 18 hours without any thought of sleep.

It's 10 / 11 hours of sleep for me :D, i used to only sleep about 5 hour a day. But now i think i need to sleep 10/11 hours a day to have a sharp mind. Being up 24/38 hours is just no fun :- and also bad for my grades.

Can you say ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... :P

depends on your age.  During the teenage years, your body needs more sleep.  After that, you can go very low depending on your schedule.

I personally need about 5-6 hrs but if it's the weekend, I try to catchup a day with 12-14 hrs sometimes ;O

Not that I would advise it but from what I understand, a large and steady supply of amphetamines can help one go long periods without sleep.  :)  Of course they do have some side effects.

Another way to force your body to function with a lot less sleep is to have a baby.  But I assume you want to sleep less so you have more time to do other things... having a baby is counter-productive to that idea... you sleep less and have less time to do other things. ;)
