Invisible guests?

So, I've noticed that while the Online List says I have X amount of guests, when I click and go to look at the action=who page, it has no information about anyone that might be stalking the site.

I don't have any fake guest codes or mods on my site.

I'm willing to bet there's double counting, that the number of guests is also including the number of spiders, so that when you saw '3 guests and 3 spiders', it's the same 3 spiders that are being counted as part of the number of guests.

The code that's wrong is not part of a stock Who.php file, it looks like it's been modified in multiple ways and probably a portal too...
