SMF Support > Converting to SMF

Converting from AEF to SMF: never done this , much help needed!!

Dont even know where to start trying to convert from AEF to SMF. Really need some help , my php html skills are low.

Not familiar with anything  mysql or databases

Well, general converting things are same (i think)

You need clean SMF install
You need to add SMF user to AEF database
You need to download this
You need to put downloaded files into SMF root
then run converter.php

Make backups and then try

How do i add user to database?
I never got into database , mysql  stuff.

I had my AEF forum installed by my host. I can do simple modifications but thats about it.

I have access to everything i nedd to do this , just not familiar on how to.. . . the instructions are not really helpful when you never done this before.

via cPanel or what control panel are you using, its the same as you did when installing AEF

or you can use AEF info (database name/username password) to install SMF probably AEF using aef_ prefix and smf use smf_ prefix so there will be no conflict (still take backups!)
