How to rearrange order of Custom Profile Fields (Advanced Profile Fields)?

(1/1)

ademanuele:
I have "Advanced Profile Fields" enabled in Core Features and have created a number of "Custom Profile Fields" however, there does not seem to be a way of managing the order the fields. Can this be done?

Arantor:
Look for the Order Custom Fields mod. Otherwise I seem to recall it's either alphabetic or order of creation (I forget which it is)

ademanuele:
The order does not seem to be based on either order of creation or alphabet (I have experimented..) so I found the Order Fields mod.

Please me gentle with me, I am a newbie and learning fast, Colin has given me a crash course and am now trying to learn the detail...

This is the first mod I am installing, I am running on a Lion OS X server and am having a problem.....

OK, I managed to download the mod OK (see image 1).

When tried to install is where I started to get issues. Image 2 shows what happened when I tried to install. Issues are as follows:
1) The mod seems to be trying to install on the default theme, my theme is called "smfthemeforpharmweb" and is not even listed? How do I get my theme to be listed?
2) FTP information was required, I enabled FTP (disabled by default for some reason!) and test connection worked. I hit proceed and that is as far as I got, I think I got permissions errors at that stage so I tried to install again
3) This time I got the error in image 3
4) I assume that this is a permissions issue and it looks like SMF is very helpful here (image 4).

Can someone provide some guidance as to what I need to do to fix this issue and be able to ins all mods. Is it simply a matter of selecting a file that needs to be writable and selecting write?

Thanks

Tony

Arantor:
1) You don't have to list your theme. Your theme does not supply a customised version of the templates that the mod actually edits, therefore no work needs to be done on your theme specifically.

2) FTP information is normal.

3) This error is related to SMF not being able to modify things. It needs to be able to modify everything inside the Packages folder, optionally with a temp/ folder inside it, and it will need to be able to modify Sources and Themes/default/ files too. I'm sure there are better people around here to help you with that part than I am though.
