No output from stage 1

actually the problem was a little different. i didnt get anything on the install.php except the title banner and the grey background. either way i ended up figuring it out. turns out php wasn't working properly. the RPM's i installed didn't allow php to render for some reason. anyways, i went out and got a different set of RPM's and installed those after removing existing RPM's and the problem cleared up.

however in regards to the original problem after reading it a little more carefully. I would also suspect MySQL problems. can you connect to it from the command line? do you have any other sites using MySQL with no problems?
