Slow page loading times (not page creation times) -- Any ideas?

This topic previously called: "Reinstall not working -- Any ideas?"

The following has been solved, however my new problem is that everything loads slow, scroll down for more info. (in a later post)

--- Code: ---I successfully installed SMF yesterday but it was unbearably slow so I uninstalled it and replaced it with PHPBB.  (deleted the files and dropped the MySQL tables)  Now I've decided I really like the features of SMF and would like to try it again. (and somehow fix the slowness).  I still have PHPBB installed under /forum2/ and I uploaded SMF to /forum/.  For today's install I CHMODed everything correctly (AFAIK), and the installer works fine up until the "create your account" step.  It makes some tables in the database, but I guess not all.  it gives me this error:

SMF Installer

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/virtual/site26/fst/var/www/html/forum/install.php on line 705
A database error occured while trying to create an administrator. This error was:
Table 'databasenamegoes_here.smf_members' doesn't exist
Click here to try this step again.

I have PHP 4.2.2 running on Apache 1.3.27.  I'm pretty sure my host will not let me upgrade Apache.

Any ideas why I can't reinstall SMF?

--- End code ---
Thanks!

Oldiesmann:
Try uploading smf_1-0.sql to your server again. Then, drop the tables that were created the first time, and try again.

And make sure all the files are writable, such as Settings.php.

What was slow?  What were you load times?

Thanks for the advice, dumping the new tables and reuploading the sql file was the key. :D

Well...the installer completed now and as soon as it's working all the way I'll let you know what the loading times are but now it's giving me an error msg when I try to go to the main index (or any page I suppose)

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/virtual/site26/fst/var/www/html/forum/Themes/default/index.template.php on line 119
Unable to load the 'main_above' template.

Inxed.template.php?  Unable to load 'main_above' template? Huh?  I replaced my whole darn theme directory to see if that would fix it, it didn't  Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Please try uploading index.template.php again....
