Fear of flying
mattsiegman:
I never said Cars a less dangerous, but almost anybody can get a pilots liscense as long as they can see well [this probably gets rid of the most people], haven't had a heart attack, aren't crazy [I know that takes out most of the West Coast US ;) ], and aren't a terrorist.

i my country it harder to get a licence...
Only mattsiegman can fly in the us :P
mattsiegman:
Oh, and techinically, there isn't an age limit on the liscense. A 9-yr old can fly, as long as an instructor is with them. You have to be 17 to get a private liscense I think (fly w/o an instructor).
The US has some of the most lax policies regarding flying of any country.
I don't know all the rules, as I'm only 16, and I can't afford flying lessons....

I can and have flown a plane. I'm not scared of flying ;), just falling. Falling is the bad one. Flying is a good thing.
I was naming statistics off airliners... general aviation probably IS less safe than cars because it is so STUPID easy to decide you want to turn and forget to hit the pedal at the same time just the right amount. (if you don't know what I mean go learn to fly a plane :P)
But... if you mean taking a trip with an airline your chances of living are probably better than my chances when I go walk to school here in LA.

mattsiegman:
Well, your not really allowed to randomly just turn unless the folks in the tower are your friends ;)
normally, you have to ask permission to turn :)
