Making posts invisible to everyone but the poster
(1/1)
Lilariel:
Running SMF 1.1.15.
I'm looking to create a board on my forum where everyone can post a topic, but only the person that posts it and the forum staff will be able to view and reply to the topic, while it remains completely invisible as if it didn't exist to everybody else. It will basically function as a private hotline directly to the people in charge, where they can contact staff directly and anonymously, as a better alternative to PM's.
As an example of the feature I'm looking for, I found this forum which works in exactly the way I want. This board has 1122 Topic with 2147 Replies, none of which are visible to me: www.minecraftforum.net/forum/64-help-contact-the-forum-staff/ [nofollow]
I've searched around for it, but I haven't been able to find any way of doing this with the default SMF options, is it neccessary to install some form of plugin?
Tips and help appreciated!

I use this mod with 1.1.15: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=687
That's exactly what it does. ;)
PS: Oh and yes, we are giving serious consideration to making this default functionality in 2.1+.
Lilariel:
Ah, that is absolutely spot on perfect! Exactly the option I was so sure I had seen and would be able to find when I started creating the board in the first place. xD I'll definitely put up another vote for seeing it as default functionality, it's a really useful and simple function! It'd give me another excuse to trump through upgrading to 2.1 as well. :P
Thanks a lot for the tip!
Lilariel:
Sorry for ressurecting this age-old topic, but since my question is essentially the same as the one in my first post, I figured it would be more informative to just post in the same one here:
I have long since updated our forums to 2.0 now, and doing so broke the support board we created with the above mentioned mod. (Which worked absolutely beautifully, I might add!) Untill today it has remained inactive since I've never found an updated mod for it, and I still haven't found one, does such a mod exist that is compatible with SMF 2.0.1 at all yet? I found this: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2474 but with the big warning on top and 2.0.1 not being listed as compatible. I haven't dared trying to emulate an older version of SMF to install it yet, at least not untill someone more savvy can tell me that it should be safe to do so.
If such a mod doesn't exist yet/anymore, is there any estimated date for whenever SMF 2.1 goes live, and if this feature is implemented by default with it?
As always, help is always warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated!
Edit: aargh, sorry, this is in the 1.x support boards, didn't notice that. I am a moron. xD
Will post in the relevant boards instead, disregard this!
