Hi,
Is this possible..
A category in the forum where anyone can post and create new threads, but so they are private, so only the admin and author of the post can view them.
Is there anything like this available?
Arantor:
Instead of focusing on how you do something, how about covering what you're trying to do? I can think of three different solutions to this depending on what you actually are trying to do.

Although SMF isnt as advanced as vbulletin, this is a feature which is available in it...
I know alternate ways doing it, but I'm asking if the way I would like it to be is possible.
Arantor:
-sigh- I don't care what vB does or does not do.
As I said, I can think of three ways to do it in SMF, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. I want to make sure that what I recommend to you suits what you actually need it to do, not how you think it needs to work.
Please, tell me what you're trying to do, not how you think you have to do it.
Arantor:
Yes, but why?
Some kind of helpdesk? Some kind of ban appeal?
The reason I ask is that one use might just be as simple as hiding topics, one might require tracking extra data (in a helpdesk, certainly, like who a topic is assigned to)
This is why I ask - because while there are mods for storing extra information per topic, they don't always play nicely with others and so on, so I want to suggest the *best solution for what you're trying to do* and you're REALLY not making that easy for me.
