Board Notification not emailing?

I didn't see this in a search...

On my forum, I used to use a bit of code to be notified by email of EVERY post (including new ones) on my forum. 

Instead of using this, it seemed that this functionality is built-in.  I went under the notification settings in my forum profile and it's now showing to where I should be emailed of any new posts in any board on my site.  However, when I post a test, it doesn't email me.

Is that because I wrote the post and it's smart enough to not send notices in that case, or am I missing something?

did you try logging in as a test user?

Excellent suggestion and the notification did come through to the original account.  So I'm guessing it's safe to assume that if you select to be notified for a board and you post in it, you will not be notified.  Makes perfect sense if that's the way it is setup.
