Thanks... two more question.

If an event is announced will it send duplicates?
At the moment members are supposed to check the box to announce topics but often forget. Using the notify groups would make it easy for them. I guess if its working then I can stop access to announce topic in permissions - would be global though...

Would it also send out notifications for every reply to all group members, or just those that are subscribe to the topic?
I assume it is just for the original topic and not replies.

This only utilizes the built in notification system for SMF.  I believe the default action is to also send to those announced and not subscribe them to the topic (they'll be asked to subscribed if interested I think).

You might check out the Mailing List mod, which I've developed in parallel to this one, that does prevent announced topics from going to notified members and auto-subscribes etc.  But it's a pretty big mod as well and only for SMF1 currently (still working with it for SMF2).

Yes, Im waiting for the smf 2 version!

Wondering how all the threads will be coordinated using off site mail. I was a bit worried replies to topics using the subject might get messed up is the subject was changed at any point... not sure if it works that way though or is more intelligent checking messages.

Is there any way to integrate Google Group to the entire forum?
If that is possible, then we would have free mailing list function without overloading the sever.

That would be great if one can make it.

Thanks so much for this mod.  I installed in SMF 2.02 and it worked perfectly.

I am wondering if you can make two more enhancements ?

1) not real important but could there be a button somewhere under admin which is hxxp:www.mycomplex.com.au/index.php?action=notifygroup [nonactive]


2) Currently I need to select each board topic manually and then notify group.  I like your current method of a drop down box for singular selecion, however ss there someway that all the board topics could be loaded at the start and then and I could select via checkbox which topics I require to set the notificaiton for ?   I would like to have both optons if possible ??
