Please help Online icon not showing @ my forum

Please help me the online icon is not showing @ my forum it only shows an inline text.

It won't be anything I can help with, but I have to clarify, where on earth does @ show on your online status?

@ doesn't show anywhere, it's simply a lazy way to write 'at'. What he's saying is that the little green online icon next to the username isn't showing (it is, after all, off by default)

Admin > Configuration > Features and Options > Layout > Show online/offline in posts and PMs

I'm sorry for using a Nigerian slang, now this is how it shows in the attachment bellow, it shows for some and don't show for some users, and please can i remove the small icon beside that green online icon? Please please please.
