Marketplace for SM.org

(1/6) > >>

Antes:
I seriously started to think about it recently. Mostly people thinks SMF is NPO, but even NPO's need some funds to operate itself (servers - maybe investment into other projects *help someone to get help* philosophy).

Those are mine thoughts only...
Marketplace is place for people / organizations can sell their products, advertise their custom works. So with this some forum sections will be transfered to outside of the SM.org. Sections of Marketplace;

[*]Modifications
[*]Free
[*]Paid
[*]Beta(?)
[*]Bridges/Integrations
[*]Free
[*]Paid
[*]Themes
[*]Free
[*]Paid
[*]Paid works (aka Help Available but only custom development part)
[*]Hosting
[*]Free (Only approved Free Hosts and Hosting)
[*]Paid (Only approved Paid Hosts and Hosting)
[*]Sites for sale(?) (Only SMF)
[*]Job board(?) (Only SMF :P)
Also i want to add, this is not only a simple marketplace for buy/sell it also shows productivity inside SM community, increase market value of software and gets more attention from other part of the world.

Basics of the system, I think needs way more discussion about it, and I'm aware that dev team has no time to deal with this but again i think this idea worths to discuss.

Arantor:
The SMF NPO receives funds from charter members and also from the ads on each page. It has funds.

All the free stuff is already covered here. It's only the paid stuff, and most people here don't want to pay for anything, and under your proposal people would have to pay to list their stuff here - so they wouldn't and would just run their own site (e.g. DzinerStudio), anyone that has anything worth selling is more than capable of running their own site too.

Actually in my mind,

Every organization / person have 10 paid item listing (for free). After that for every free item they give to community they get 2 paid item listing.

Arantor:
So you'll get people spamming little crappy items to get paid listings, or they'll take over old mods and use those as promotional items. Both of these have happened before, even here.

Well its very critical point (abuse)

* small rule about old mods can solve problem > needs to support its branch's last-patch (EOL branch(s) mods not count).
- making money from paid works (not really) more likely advertisement from them (stick this paid mod)

Main point is not money actually, main point containing all mods/themes in a place to show how rich SMF is.
