I'm still learning php and I'm working on a mod to make a image show up in my posts under karma. I'm using SMF 2.0.2 . I'm using the default/Display.template.php. How would something like this be done?

I am not sure what you are upto, however if you are asking for location, the Karma is around lines 290 - 304, you can add your stuff after that. Though you can also use custom profile field to show stuff there.
