Connection Problems

I had some hosting server issues last weekend that were resolved, but ever since, our forums have intermittently had the old:

error. Assuming that this was still a host server issue, I have badgered them nonstop but they have not been able to find a solution in 5 days. Today, I noticed that I will absolutely cause this connection problem if I try to go to "Modify Profile>Forum Profile". The forum occasionally shows the error at seemingly random times, but I can replicate it if I go to "Modify Profile> Forum Profile".

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Can you tell us what mods you have installed and also what host you are with please?

all of those are up to date according to the package manager.  Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

It's the server.

If the settings were wrong, you'd have problems every single time, not just intermittently.
