I got sick of speedtest.net constantly falling back in it's speed over and over,
so I used http://speedtest.upc.nl instead. (European mirror) Quite a delight

At speedtest.net I even had a mirror that wouldn't get me more than about 500Kb/sec :|

Anyway, resultz:

For fun tried to do a little speedtest with a test VPS on SSH as well to see how that would perform being connected to a Gbit line, fun results, though it could do with some improvements. Unfortunately it depends on the uploading party as well

32.3MB/s translates back to a rough 258Mbit/sec download from a external source.
If I could find a proper Europe ST it should be able to range well up to 900 ~1000Mbit.

Didn't run a test on my own network in California as I couldn't quickly find a suitable 100mb.bin from an external source that's not in Europe. Have one internal but that's simply cheating

The constant BSODs that I'm currently suffering haven't helped, I guess.

I have even crappier stuff but I have plan to switch to fiber soon...

Nah, waste of electricity really to put servers at home; all servers including my private servers are in the datacenter

Better connection there as well. (Faster, redundant, etc.)
Technically it would of course be possible on this connection though, where it not that the modem is horrible for anyone with even a bit network experience

Will work for granny perhaps with 1 cabled connection on it and WiFi when grandson comes by, other than that; fail.

I got a upgrade to 150 symmetric by the way. (See results above)

The internet connection back home has been giving me some grief of late with cutting out randomly during the day, so I thought I'd try this out of interest. The results were as follows:

Ping = 39ms
Download speed = 12.91 Mbps
Unload speed = 0.98 Mbps

I'm not sure it explains the cutting out, but it does explain some of the download speeds that have caused my problems in the past.
