Updating from 1.1.16 to 2.02 - Stuck on Backup Database
Shadowjj:
My update is taking forever at the following step (going on over 2 hours now):
Backup Database
Please wait while a backup is created. For large forums this may take some time!
Completed 0 out of 54 tables.
Current Table: "attachments"
I see in the Attachments db where the "last update" was when I started the upgrade.php script but I can't imagine it shoudl take this long? Or am I not being patient enouth.
It is not that large of a database. Is there a way to stop the script and re-run or is that not advised? Or some way to tell if it is actually still running/doing something?
Thank you for the time and consideration of my issue
OrcaSoul:
I've had the same problem - the "backup" never seemed to start, and I had to shut down after several hours. Then I get the "Okay faithful users" page when I try to access the forum.
I even went to the Godaddy site and tried to run the upgrade from there - it told me it would do a backup and then the upgrade, and I would get an email when it was done.
I never got the email, and still see the same maintenance page...
I checked the index.php to see if I could find something that would tell me why it's not working - nothing is obvious.
K@:
Forgive me... It's been a long time since I did an upgrade from v1 to v2...
If you backup your forum as you normally do (From CPanel and don't forget to get the database, too!), before you do the upgrade, do you get the option to skip the backup, when you upgrade?
cicka:
I think it would be better if you made a backup of your database from phpmyadmin or the backup manager at your CP and then as suggested by K@ skip the backup process when upgrading your forums.
Shadowjj:
Thank you for the replies.
After reading a bunch of other forum posts what I got out of it was "the backup process doesn't work". So I did a phpmyadmin backup and selected to skip the backup step when I restarted the update. Everything went through and it was updated in minutes.
Lookin' good now! Thanks again for the replies and hopefully this helps someone else.
