url hyperlink button not working

How do I get the URL hyperlink button to work properly in my forum?  Presently, it just adds the UTL tags, but it does not show a popup box where the link can be inserted.  That's a functionality that I will need for most of my forum users.

Search for 'url popup mod'. It is working exactly as it was coded to do, doing what you want is not built into SMF except in WYSIWYG mode (and that's not really recommended)

Unfortunately the only mod available wont install through the package manager in SMF 2.0 (at least looking at the code it searches I think it doesn't install), but it should be possible to adapt it to 2.0.

The WYSIWYG editor already does this. Unless I'm not understanding the question.

It does, but it doesn't do it outside of WYSIWYG mode. Whether that's a bug or intended behaviour is certainly questionable.
