Upgrade basic question

where can i get this "converter" software, i am having problems with YABB and i just decided to upgrade to SMF anyways. could you please tell me where can i get it and also, i noticed the other mentioned something about the upgrade and not the install program, so when i install this upgrade zip file it doesn't have some of the files in the full smf, is this the way it should be, i guess. but would you please tell me what steps did you do to do the converstion, what files did you upload and most important where did you put them?

Update and upgrade are different packages.  Make sure you use upgrade, not update.
