Why was SMF named SMF?
Who has the idea for it?
Is there a special story about giving the name SMF?

I'm just interested ;-)

Chris Cromer:
SMF stands for Simple Machines Forums. So the forum was named after this site. ;)

Sounds logical, but (I'm interested in this too ;) ) what I want to know is: Why was it related to this site, not to another site? As I already said in another topic: I didn't really follow things at the old community, so this is probably already at YaBBSE.org, but maybe it's good to have it here also... ^^

Jeff Lewis:
Well Joseph was the first to bring up the name Simple Machines. The more I said it, the more I liked it too. Then others (not everyone) on the development team got on board too.

It was determined to be a good name for a bit of a portal so we can also offer other software too.

The forums official name is SMF :)

[curious/rumour-starting mode]Do I smell some vague plans here for other software??[/curious/rumour-starting mode]
