Wiki translation
GravuTrad:
Why a subdomain by language hasn't been retained like solution already? (i don't remember)
emanuele:
What would be the difference?
GravuTrad:
It seems to be the wikipedia solution.
(with no translate extension, but only "modify" button to translate in the language adapted to the subdomain choosen (fr for french, de etc....)
AngelinaBelle:
On wikipedia, they have chosen different encyclopedias for different languages. While some wikipedia editors choose to bring translated material from one wiki to another, most articles are written completely independantly on the different-language wikis.
On other wikipedia services, where it has been decided that information should be the same in every language, things are handled differently. For instance -- at wikimedia's meta site, news and information is routinely translated into a number of different languages. A translation project manages translation requests.
You can see this going on at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meta:Babylon and http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests

Again: we can do the same with sub-pages without spread all the documentation over several different sub-domains...different solutions to the same problem. ;)
