freeze/hibernate/pause/park account

K@:
I think so, yes.

Unless, of course, the admin adds such things to the calendar, perhaps?

(Just throwing ideas around, here)

The confirmation screen. What would you want that to, actually, confirm?

emanuele:
I think I already heard a similar request...
And my reaction was self-ban. I know is not exactly what you want, just a thought.

Mentioned it earlier. Asking the user to confirm it wants to be "defrosted", also reminding it what that means - account couldn't be locked again for so-and-so time etc. If it would go through membergroups, user would have to wait for admin approval. If complete feature was added, it, among other things, would happen automatically.

It's even better  The most humorous mod!
It could find its use here too. Thanks for suggestion.

Don't actually need the feature myself at present. I mentioned it for consideration, thought maybe it could be of use to every forum if implemented fully. If you think there's a need for something like that.

Eloi:
To clarify and add a few points:

* If forum doesn't allow account deletion, proposed feature would clearly show who's actively participating and whom you might expect an answer in a topic from. In this case, another option could be present, that would feature complete permanent locking down of account (equivalent of deleting an account).
* If forum does allow account deletion, then the feature would enable a user to keep its account on-hold in case it changes its mind later, thereby also reducing the number of guest accounts displayed in topics, in addition to the main benefit previously mentioned.

Automatic freezing of account should also be in operation if user doesn't log in for a specified amount of time, so others would again know who's participating and could expect their answer in a topic from. PMs would be blocked anyway so if somebody tries to contact "frozen" member this way, it should receive corresponding explanation.
