Ad Banners caused flood of popunders and unasked for links.........
iain sherriff:
PLEASE READ TO THE END WHERE I REALISE THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT BANNERSBROKER BUT MY CODING :)
Hi.
Not really sure this is the right place ??
I have 2.0.2 with Crip's Anecdota and very few mods, one being Ad Management. Forum runs without errors.
Having got Ad Managment installed (which was very easy) I placed an Ad script from a commercial provider (BannersBroker.com).
Imediately my users started getting popunders (right term?...pages opened under the one they were looking at or/and they got dieverted to another site when clicking something on the forum). Some said these where gambling sites, some not sure. I took the script off after a few hours and the problem stopped straight away.
The provider says they have strick policy on Gambling/porn/etc and cant understand it.
I need to know if there could be anything OTHER than the script they provided that could cause this.........
This is the script without the opening and closing java brackets (just as I dont want to post anything active. :o )
can anyone tell me from this if it is supposed to call uo popunders and random links or if it should just place click through banners ? ???
If it looks OK what can I check ?
thanks
in advance.

Just seeing:
--- Quote ---//default pop-under house ad url
--- End quote ---
makes alarm bells ring, for me.
Why not contact Banners Brokers and ask them wheat the Hell they're playing at?
iain sherriff:
I thought about that line but dont know enough to be sure.
Thanks.
I did contact them and was assured again that they dont use any advertisers that have gambling/porn/etc and there system only provides genuine click through banners............................
I am looking for more knowledgeable people than me to give me better info before I reply again.
At the time I had the boards set with Anecdota as the default theme. It looked to be working perfectly although I have read now about some manual coding needing to be done. Do you know if not having done it could create this problem without it being caused by BannersBroker ?
Thanks again

From what little I know, that script seems to just call-up one/some of their scripts. So...
Seems they're 100% guilty, to me. :(
iain sherriff:
if i make a page somewhere, not on my forum, and put the script in it I guess the behaviour will be the same as in the forum?
I'm thinking that proves it is nothing but the script and also I can note what/where the links are to...........
would that work ?
