Hidden Board
« on: May 23, 2012, 08:37:54 PM »
Wasn't quite sure where to put this.

I was wondering fi it is at all possible to have hidden boards on the forum that aren't seen on the index page but can be accessed via a link. I have a custom header in place and want it to link to certain boards of the forum, but I don't want them all shown on the forum index.

Also, with that being said; would it also be possible to add a custom theme to said boards. It would be the same initial theme I have made, just with a few tweaks to the category headers and display.

Use the board permissions, to make them viewable only by the membergroups you want?

I'd point-out a few more details, but you don't say which version of SMF you're using...

Or, do you mean that you want the board to be accessible, but not from within the forum? (Which seems a bit weird, to me. So, I may have misunderstood.)

Adding a custom theme is easy, it's in the main board configuration, just modify the board and you'll find the option to set its theme.

Sorry for the lack of info.

I'm running smf v.2.0.2 and the reason I want hidden boards from the forum is so I can link them in the header to save from installing a blog software, or something similar. ive had a few issues integrating SMF with just an index page, couldnt imagine how hard it would be to do it with a blog.

Set perms, make them not viewable. Then create an ssi file with option $isOverride=true. Here you can find examples all around ssi.
