Upgrade notifications

I'd like a feature to email the administrator of the forum when a new patch is available to be applied to the forum.

You could achieve something similar by simply getting notifications of the Announcements board here which will notify you.

Failing that, there is a notification available from the front of the admin panel and most people I know go into there regularly enough that it'll tell you...

Kindred:
1- we send out announcements to all users on this site when a release is made.
2- we put notification on the announcements board
3- we place notification in the smf admin main screen
4- we place notification in the package manager when a security patch is released

you think that we should further spam users when there are at least 4 channels already in place?
