Latest topics streaming to another website?
scotchmonster:
Hi all,
I have an smf forum at www.pwcfun.com.au and I have the recent topics being displayed on the left side via simple portal.
I have tried to copy this over to another website I have by putting the code into ann html widget in wordpress. It's at www.jetskitv.com.au
I am trying to get the traffic from TV to Fun.
That has worked but doesn't update with new posts and topics.
I'm wondering if anyone has had success doing a similar thing before?
Any help is much appreciated.

I'd have thought you'd be better off working with an RSS type feed from the forum to import that into your other website. Knowing nothing of wordpress I have no idea how you'd do that.
The main SMF and indeed SimplePortal codings assumes that the site is all in one domain. Lift a part only of a SimplePortal block and that in probably going to break some code that makes other calls on parts of the forum that aren't being transferred.

I'm a bit of a nuf nuf with RSS. Can SMF push an RSS feed? I have an html widget to work with on the Word Press site but could look for an RSS widget to run if that can nwork?

OK I just found out I can get an RSS feed widget for word press. I just need to work out how to push it from SMF.
But I would prefer to keep going with what I have so far if I can nget it to update. It just looks good.
I have attached the code if anyone is interested.

Of course SMF can push an RSS feed, that's what the RSS link at the bottom of the standard theme generated page does (link seems removed on your forum's theme). Whether the feed outputs in a way that is of use for your needs is another matter ;)
