Request to share FORUM

(1/3) > >>

GeorgeT:
A known to me Administrator, living in Cambodia (NON PROFIT site), asked me if it is possible for his "Visitors" to use my Forum.

These are his exact words.

Is it possible to link forums you think? ie if I have a thread say about khmer orchids in your site, how can I have it in both your and my site?

I guess it must be possible for two sites to share and control the same FORUM. However, I do not wish to hand over control to anybody. Any suggestions?

Storman™:
Without going into the technicalities the basic answer is no you can't.

Not only that if you start having identical topics in both sites then your SEO will suffer. One or two similar topics would be ok but once many get duplicated then Google would not be impressed and your rankings would be penalised accordingly. Basically your content needs to be unique and relevant.

GeorgeT:
Only TWO extra topics that I do not have and are also of interest to me.

Arantor:
Then post two new topics that have that content, job done. The bottom line is that joining two forums together is a massive amount of work, and I'm not sure you'll ever get anywhere near the benefit out of it that you hope to.

GeorgeT:
Thanks,
I suggested that some time ago. I said, that he should create a FORUM option, and link it directly to my FORUM Home page. I will add the 2-3 Forum "Themes" he is interested in,
to the 14 I already have. That way, his visitors can participate without accessing my website. (assuming they register off course).

He is considering it.
