Just put them in differend folders.
avatars/group1
avatars/group2
avatars/group3

Yeah I just tried, but it will only be viewable if you have a image in that folder.

mmm, why you want avatar group without images? Or do i understand yoy totally wrong? :D
There might should be that index.php file, look those built in avatar group folders, like actors. Not sure tho...

On the topic of avatars, is there any way to only lets people in a certian membergroup use a set of avatars?
